Meryl Russo founded One Warm Scarf in 2017.
Our mission is to be part of the movement to empower adults to break the cycle of homelessness. While this is a complex and daunting challenge, we contribute by providing scarves, undergarments, and clothing to individuals in need. One Warm Scarf would not be possible without the generosity of our dedicated volunteers and donors.
Organizations we have partnered with include the Allentown Rescue Mission, Saint John's Hospice, Bethesda Project, Philly Place, Broad Street Love, Cradles to Crayons, and Project H.O.M.E.
In 2022, One Warm Scarf expanded its efforts to include new men's and women's socks, T-shirts, and underwear—essential items that, unlike coats and other clothing, cannot typically be donated secondhand.
In 2025, we introduced our Warm Clothing Drive, expanding our mission to include the collection of new and gently-used men's and women's winter clothing and accessories.
One Warm Scarf collects donations from September through April; however, we gratefully accept contributions throughout the year. If you don't knit or crochet, you can still make a difference by donating new or gently used scarves and by sharing our mission with friends, family, and neighbors.
One Warm Scarf is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Arvin Belostock, a gentle and caring man whose kindness touched the hearts of those who knew him. Although he did not have the opportunity to be part of this mission during his lifetime, his compassion continues to inspire it every day. Now free from sorrow and heartache, his spirit lives on in every act of kindness, every scarf shared, and every person reached with love, warmth, and support. May this work honor his memory and carry forward the goodness he brought into the world.
