One Warm Scarf was truly humbled and honored to receive this from one of our most charitable donors:
"For the last three Novembers, I’ve done a charity drive in honor of my mother. Her birthday was November 1, and she passed very suddenly in July 2023. When she passed, a huge piece of my heart went with her.
My mother was a very compassionate person. She was the first person to cheer for you or cry with you and was always available to listen. She was very charitable in her giving, especially later in life, and was always paying attention to those less fortunate and contributing to a cause.
We are of the Jewish faith, and when someone passes away people say, 'May her memory be a blessing.' When she passed, I decided that I would honor her memory every November with a charitable collection for those that need it. In doing this, it’s been a wonderful way to connect with friends and relatives who also want to honor her memory in an actionable way.
This year, I chose One Warm Scarf because my mom loved knitting and crochet and the mission is absolutely something my mom would have been proud to be a part of. She had made all of the grandkids these wonderful little characters from Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, and Sesame Street. And of course we all have handmade scarves from her, too.
I can’t think of a better way to make her memory a blessing than giving the gift of warmth this winter. What a wonderful mission Meryl is doing. Thank you for letting me and my mom be a part of it."
