Hygiene products are among the items shelters need most. Toothbrushes and toothpaste may seem basic, but they protect health, provide comfort, and help preserve dignity.
Oral health is a particular concern for people experiencing homelessness. The National Health Care for the Homeless Council calls it a significant health-equity issue, citing barriers to dental care and high rates of tooth decay, tooth loss, and dental infection. One study of more than 1,000 homeless patients found untreated tooth decay in 58% of adults.
That makes donations like this especially valuable. These supplies will go directly to shelters and the people they serve.
